ANDREA BORRUSO

Andrea brings over 35 years of postgraduate experience in the petrochemical industry, Andrea's industrial upbringing started in the family business, walking around hoppers, blenders, star feeders, presses, driers, mills and steam generators since the age of 8. Until after his university graduation in chemical engineering Andrea spent his free time loading trucks and working with the others in the workers crew, while learning the family business.

After graduation, shifting from a small plant to a large petrochemcial complex, Andrea started his polymers carrier, in a LDPE plant mastering the first tricks of polymer production. After eight years Andrea moved on from Plant superintendent (the youngest in the whole complex) to project engineering for a new LLDPE Sclairtech plant. Following three years of project management, around five years of business development and new ventures activity seeded the idea of becoming a global consultant, which happened in 1993. Since then, Andrea advise globally in the thermoplastics industry.

Andrea brings over 35 years of postgraduate experience in the petrochemical industry, specialized in thermoplastics, Plastomers and Linear Alpha Olefins globally. He has an extensive knowledge of the petrochemical industry, its key players worldwide although primarily in Asia and EMEA.

Industry Activity

June 2013 to date: Andrea is Associate Director at IHS chemical in the Chemcial Consulting Practice, while operating at arm's length, his own practice under Borruso Polymers GmbH.
2012 to 2013: Andrea has served as Director at IHS in the Chemical consulting practice:
2001 to 2011 with SRI Consulting, in Zurich Switzerland: SRI Consulting later acquired by IHS Global Inc..
1993 to 2001 Andrea operated at Tecnon Consulting (now part of the ICIS Group) as global leader of their thermpoplastics practice.
1981 – 2001 in Calgary, Alberta Canada, Andrea was in charge of Bus. development and new ventures for Encana.
Since graduation and until 1981 Andrea lived in Italy and was in charge of LDPE production with the Versalis SpA.

Andrea resides in Zurich Switzerland since 2001.

Education

Andrea holds a Chemical Engineering Degree from the University of Palermo, Italy. He has taken several marketing and market strategy courses (including Stanford, University). He is currently registered Professional Engineer in Alberta, Canada and past member of several industry associations such as EPCA, (European Petrochemical Industry Association) and SCI (Society for the Chemical Industry).
